What's On the Shelf? Project Hail Mary

Writers read. Maybe not all of them, but surely most. One of the great things about learning to write in the increased appreciation it's given me for for a well crafted tale.

Andy Weir';s latest book is Project Hail Mary, and I give it two thumbs up. It's been criticized as being a rework of his amazing book The Martian, and there some validity to that. But it's a fine tale in its own right, full of the nerdy problem solving and optimism that made The Martian so much fun.

This time our hero isn't just saving himself, he's saving everyone. For starters, he's lost of big chunk of his memories, and is entirely on his own, far, far away. The tale of how he teams up with one of the most fascinating aliens you'll ever meet is a great story in its own right.

I found this book to be entertaining, uplifting, and inspiring. It's well worth your time.
